AAKON Capital - Private equity investment company

In August 2017, Aakon Capital invested into expansion of Burrito Loco chain, popular operator of „fast casual“ restaurants serving Mexican cuisine. Since the opening of the first location in 2012, the chain has expanded into current eight locations around Prague and one in Pilsen. It offers quick service with quality of food prepared only from fresh ingredients and broad build your own options.

At the beginning of 2017, Aakon Capital acquired well established Czech company Slechta s.r.o., which is based in Jindrichuv Hradec in South Bohemia. The company is the leading player in the field of technical and high gloss polishing, laser engraving, laser welding and surfacing as well as mould service and repairs. Slechta s.r.o. cooperates with major international firms in the field of manufacturing of plastic injection forms primarily for the automotive, food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry.

Major food producing company in the CEE region with production facilities in the Czech Republic, Romania and Russia which today generates over EUR 200m in revenues whilst employing over 3000 people. The Novotný family (prior to founding Aakon Capital) successfully disposed of the investment in early 2008 in a leveraged sale to a private equity investor.

Aakon Capital invested into a portfolio of distressed debts and real estate assets in the United States during the dramatic distress environment of 2009 and was successfully managing a fully rented portfolio of residential assets in downtown Miami as well as large numbers of buildable lots in Florida and Arkansas. In 2014 Aakon Capital successfully exited the investment in downtown Miami.

LEO Express is a private railway operator in the Czech Republic focusing on passenger transportation that launched its operations in December 2012. The company is positioned as a competing alternative to the state owned incumbent operators in the CEE region, competing with quality as well as price. Aakon Capital prepared business models and helped with raising capital for the project.

Czech startup ArtBanana.cz is an online art gallery focusing on young European artists. ArtBanana collaborates with various private galleries and creates space for their online presentation. It offers a selection of original artworks at affordable prices on an attractive and easy to use website. ArtBanana makes it simple and convenient for artist and galleries to present and sell - and customers to buy – art. This young project is aiming to bring contemporary art to the general public.
